Aunt Virgínia’s protagonist is a 70-year-old woman who never married or had children and, convinced by her sisters, moved to the city to take care of her parents. The film takes place in a single day, the day when Virginia prepares to receive the sisters Vanda and Valquíria who travel to celebrate Christmas.

Born in Goiânia, Brazil, in 1979, Fabio Meira studied at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión, in Cuba. Director and screenwriter, Meira started his career as an assistant to Ruy Guerra in the film “O Veneno da Madrugada” (2004). He directed short films, including “Dolores” (2005), “Atlântico” (2008) and “Hoje Tem Alegria” (2010), and the feature film “Two Irenes” (2017), presented in the Generation Kplus section at the Berlin International Film Festival. “Aunt Virginia” is his second feature film.
