- Synopsis
Winner of the Grande Otelo Award of Brazilian Cinema and recipient of more than 35 awards in various countries, the film tells the story of two children, a boy and a girl, who perceive the world in completely different ways. He is wary of the mysteries the ocean might hold, while she finds poetry in every grain of sand. Together, they discover that to truly embrace life, one must surrender to the senses. From this connection emerges a tale of resilience, profound lessons, and a transformative journey. Inspired by the book “O Menino e o Mar” by Lulu Lima, this short film delicately explores pressing contemporary themes such as diversity, accessibility, the overuse of technology, environmental awareness, overcoming fears, and the boundless power of imagination.
